TUCSON, Ariz. — Santa Rita is adding a dental assisting class to their career and technical education.
They are putting the finishing touches on a full-sized dental office, 4 chairs and an x-ray machine. Teachers say the class will put graduating students ahead of the competition. They can start work right away, and possibly pursue more certifications and career advancement.
“I know a lot of people who started out as dental assistants who have become dental hygienists with more schooling, I know some dental assistants who have gone on to become dentists,” said Dental Assisting Teacher Stephanie Grier.
Program coordinators say the office will be ready for training in September and hope to one day offer low cost care to the public.
The school also added a Diesel Engine Repair Program.
