TUCSON, Ariz. — A charity is helping children underserved communities in southern Arizona get access to quality dental care.
The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile is designed to bring dental care to kids throughout the county who have no access to a dentist.
Kate Jensen, the CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities, says there's a major need for more health care providers in Cochise County.
"The rate of child poverty is quite high," she said. "There are very few dentists, and what they were finding is 30 percent of kids in Cochise County were showing up to kindergarten never having seen a dentist."
Medical directors with Chiricahua Community Health Centers tell Jensen the new mobile medical center is helping them recruit dentists to Cochise County.
The new bus is replacing an old mobile clinic that is no longer being used. The Care Mobile well start seeing patients in a few weeks.
