Tucson Police Department will soon have new cameras installed downtown, giving them an extra set of eyes to track down crime.

The Rio Nuevo board voted unanimously at its meeting Tuesday to put $40,000 toward the project.

The cameras will have license plate recognition technology, meant to help TPD track down suspects.
