A group calling for the eviction of Immigration and Customs Enforcement gathered outside the Pima County Adult Detention Center Complex on Saturday afternoon.

According to a press release from a local group, they want the Pima County Sheriff's Department to remove ICE officials from the jail.

Last month KGUN 9 talked to jail officials about the presence of ICE. Sheriff Mark Napier said he does not feel he has the legal authority to hold someone on a federal charge. Napier says that could lead to a dangerous person walking free.

The sheriff does let ICE use a desk at the jail so an agent can be on the spot when people are released.

PCSD says in the last six months there were 247 inmates wanted by ICE out of more than 15,000 who passed through the jail.
