U.S Customs and Border Protection officers arrested a person from Mexico after a failed smuggling attempt resulted in the seizure of more than 69 pounds of methamphetamine.
Officers at the Port of San Luis referred a 30-year-old Mexican man for additional inspection of his car as he tried to enter the U.S from Mexico Thursday morning.
A CBP narcotics detection canine discovered more than 50 packages of meth throughout the car. The drugs weighed more than 69 pounds and are valued at nearly $208,000.
The drugs and vehicle were seized. The man was arrested and turned over to U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
