Police are investigating a death at Santa Rita park Tuesday night.
Tucson Police Sgt. Kimberly Bay says the K9 unit found a man with "obvious signs of trauma" just after 8:30 p.m. at 401 East 22nd Street.
Paramedics attempted to save him, but Sgt. Bay says he died at the scene.
An adult male and female were seen leaving the park, and police detained them for further investigation.
The victims identify is being withheld, pending next of kin notification. The man detained has been identified as 34-year-old Phillip Lewis Jr.
Lewis Jr. has been arrested for second degree murder along with an outstanding felony probation violation warrant. He has been booked into the Pima County Jail.
During the investigation, detectives learned the victim and Lewis Jr. were acquaintances and had previous arguments and fights. Tuesday night, the victim approached Lewis Jr. and an argument ensued. The argument escalated into a physical fight and Lewis Jr. stabbed the victim.
Sgt. Bay says multiple people were at the park when this happened, but many left the scene.
The investigation is ongoing. Police are asking anyone with information to call 911 or 88-Crime.
