TEMPE, Ariz. - Police in a Phoenix suburb are investigating an injury collision involving a Waymo self-driving vehicle carrying a driver and a passenger.
It wasn't immediately known whether the Waymo vehicle was in self-driving mode when the collision occurred in Tempe Thursday night.
Police say few details were immediately available on circumstances of the crash. Police say the Waymo driver suffered non-life threatening injuries while a passenger and the two people in the other vehicle weren't injured. Waymo is among several companies testing autonomous vehicles in metro Phoenix.
An Uber self-vehicle test vehicle in 2018 struck and killed a pedestrian in Tempe in a crash that the National Transportation Safety Board said was caused by a distracted human safety driver.
