UPDATE: Luis Moreno, the inmate who escaped from Pima County Jail on December 28, 2018, has been declared deceased by the Pima County Sheriff's Department. "While continuing to search for Luis Moreno, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department was notified he had fled to Mexico, where he died," James Allerton with PCSD said."

Police in Tucson are currently assisting in the search for an escaped inmate from the Pima County Jail.
According to the Pima County Sheriff's Department, it happened at around 2:11 p.m. when 30-year-old inmate Luis Moreno was spotted running towards a wash near the jail after he ran out a back door outside the kitchen. He turned himself in the night before on an outstanding DUI warrant, and he was sentenced to 30 days in jail.
Tucson Police say the call came in from Pima County Sheriff's Deputies at around 2:14 p.m. TPD officers arrived at the jail minutes later and began assisting the PCSD in the search for Moreno in the surrounding area.
Moreno was last seen wearing red prison garb. He's described as about 6 feet tall, 175 pounds with black hair and a buzz cut. Anyone with information on the escaped inmate should call 911.
