Nogales Police have confirmed that Officer Jesus Cordova was killed during an officer-involved shooting Friday.
According to Officer Mesta with Nogales PD, officers responded to an armed carjacking incident in the 2900 block of N. Grand Avenue around 2:41 p.m.
Cordova located the vehicle driving away and a traffic stop was initiated.
The suspect then exited the vehicle and shot at Cordova. The suspect then stole another vehicle in the area and left. Police say he then stole a third vehicle moments later in the area of N. Frank Reed Road.
Police later located the suspect at a trailer park and took him into custody.
The suspect has been identified as 28-year-old David Ernesto Murillo.
