Tucson Police gang detectives are investigating a homicide in midtown Thursday.
TPD Sgt. Pete Dugan said the call came in at 9:15 a.m. from the area of Alvernon and Third Street.
Officers found bystanders performing CPR on a man with gunshot trauma.
The victim, who is suspected to be affiliated with a gang and spending time with others with gang affiliations, was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead.
The victim has been identified as 38-year-old Carlos Simmons.
No one is in custody. Those with information should call 911 or 88-CRIME.
