TUCSON, Ariz. - Tucson police investigated a deadly midtown stabbing Tuesday.
Police say the incident happened around 12:30 p.m. in the 4100 block of East Fairmount Street.
Officers responded to a call about a stabbing, upon arrival police learned a suspect in his 30s fled the area on foot.
TPD say officers found a man with stab wounds.
The victim was taken to Banner University Medical Center, where he later died. He was later identified as 69-year-old David Corteal.
Officers learned the suspect is the live-in son-in-law with the victim.
Soon after detectives arrived on scene police received a call from the suspect wanting to turn himself in. Police found the suspect and detained him.
The suspect was identified Wednesday as 36-year-old Joshua Juarez. He has been charged with 1st degree murder.
After further investigation, TPD learned that Corteal and Juarez were involved in a physical altercation before the stabbing.
Detectives are continuing the investigation.
