The Pima County Elections Department released its 2018 Security Plan, that explains the internal process and how it is to ensure the integrity of the voting process.
The department has had a Security Plan in place since 2007, used mainly for internal use although it was always available as a public record. Friday's reveal marks as the first time the county has made this document readily available on its website.
It's important for the public to know the systems, processes, and policies the department follows to maintain a secure election process.
The plan features specific information on the type of software used to count ballots, the logic and accuracy tests performed prior to ballot tabulation, the security of the voting equipment, the building's infrastructure design and access, and more.
The department anticipates updating this plan every two years.
