A man is dead after being struck by a car early Saturday morning near South Nogales Highway and East Los Reales Road, according to Deputy Cody Gress, a spokesman for the Pima County Sheriff's Department.
Gress says the incident happened around 3 a.m. as 35-year-old Carlos Flores had been crossing Nogales Highway from the entrance to Desert Diamond Casino.
As deputies arrived, they learned a maroon car was traveling northbound on Nogales Highway when it struck Flores crossing the roadway.
Flores was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Traffic Unit responded to the scene and learned that the driver, 19-year-old Miguel Cano, stayed on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
Gress says impairment is not believed to be factor in the collision.
Deputies are still investigating at this time.
