TUCSON, Ariz. — Travel is being restricted on Mt. Lemmon, but it's not due to road conditions.
The Pima County Sheriff's Department says heavy traffic on the roadway has forced them to limit traffic at the base of the mountain. Deputies say they are letting only letting one car up the mountain when another comes down.
PCSD says travelers up the mountain should expect long travel time and difficulty parking in popular areas.
The travel restrictions come after two big storm systems hit southern Arizona last week, delivering valley rain and heavy mountain snow. The Catalina Highway was closed during the storms, but reopened Sunday.
The storms also gave Ski Valley a snowpack thick enough to open its slopes, which brought even more visitors up the mountain.
