UPDATE: PCSD identifies victims of crash on Nogales Highway, south of Tucson

(UPDATE 6:10 p.m.): Pima County Sheriff's Department has identified the two victims as driver 56-year-old Robert Reid and passenger 61-year-old Lizette Reid.

(UPDATE 4:47 p.m.):

Pima County Sheriff's Department issued a news release on the first three-vehicle crash that happened on South Nogales Highway Thursday night.

The crash left two people dead.

According to the news release, a 2021 Kia Soul was traveling southbound on Nogales Highway at just before 6:15 p.m. when it crossed the center line near milepost 53.

It struck a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica driving northbound head-on.

A 2020 Toyota C-HR, also traveling southbound, was unable to avoid crashing into the Soul.

A fourth vehicle, a 2023 Ford F650 traveling northbound was able to take evasive action, avoiding any major damage.

The driver of the Kia Soul was not wearing his seatbelt and died at the scene. His passenger was wearing a seatbelt and was transported to the hospital where they later died.

The driver of the Pacifica was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A three-vehicle crash has taken traffic down to just one lane on South Nogales Highway and East Lumber Street.

The call came in at just after 12:30 p.m. There are injuries reported, according to PCSD.

This is the second three-vehicle crash at Nogales Highway and Lumber in less than 24 hours.
