PCSD, TPD cracking down on street racing in Tucson area

According to the department, deputies responded over the weekend to reports of street racing near Swan and Los Reales Roads.

TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — The Pima County Sheriff's Department and the Tucson Police Department made announcements Wednesday related to recent street racing incidents in the Tucson area.

Pima County Sheriff's deputies announced arrests of 48 people over the weekend for street racing near Swan and Los Reales Roads.

PCSD: 48 arrested for street racing

About 75 vehicles were gathered to race, and some vehicles were going as fast as 100 mph.

Deputies arrested 48 suspects on street racing charges and released them at the scene.

The Tucson Police Department also made an announcement related to street racing today. Chief Magnus with TPD says he will be holding a press conference on Thursday that will address street racing, "sideshows," and other dangerous conduct involving vehicles.
