Oro Valley police officer Jason P. Lindley resigned from the force after he was accused of using his work phone, while on duty, to "sext" and send lewd messages and pictures.

Department spokeswoman Lt. Kara Riley confirmed Lindley's resignation, which happened in November.

Officer Lindley has worked for the department for 12 years.

His iPhone contained 141 video files. Out of those, 126 video files were sexually oriented.

Investigators found Lindley's phone had 20,989 photos and 9,178 chat messages, according to the report.

An undercover officer was looking at the social app called "Whisper" and came across a photo that Officer Lindley had posted of an unknown male in a ballistic vest that said "Do women fantasize about cops? ;)."

The undercover officer messaged Lindley and asked him to send a photo of himself and he did.

In a report, Lindley says this behavior has gone on for a year.

Lt. Riley says Lindley is not facing any criminal charges.

Lt. Riley says it is common for most officers to look at this app to find crime.

Lindley violated several department policies, including engaging in sexual activity on duty, neglect of duty, and conduct unbecoming a member of this department, according to the report.

"This type of behavior is unacceptable, not tolerated and unfortunate. This one incident really puts a black mark on the agency, however, I assure you the officers that work for this agency is not indicative of anybody else. This just happened to be a one-time situation that happened and it is very unfortunate," said Riley.
