The Pima County Regional Critical Incident Team continues to investigate an officer-involved shooting that happened near West Roger and North Flowing Wells roads Sunday night.

Pima County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call of a burglary in progress at around 11:15 p.m. in the 4100 block of North Reno Venue, according to a PCSD news release.

The initial call indicated that the victim's ex-boyfriend had forced his way into the home and was still there, PCSD said. The victim was able to escape, but another family member was still inside.

Upon arrival, deputies contacted the suspect, who was still inside the home and armed with a knife. The suspect was ordered repeatedly by deputies to drop the knife, but did not comply and instead moved toward the deputies, PCSD said.

A deputy shot the suspect and died at the scene. No one else was injured.

The investigation is ongoing.
