A decades-long shuttle service at Sabino Canyon has been temporarily stopped.
The service that's been up and running since the mid-1980s ended this weekend. Sunday was the first day without service and it was noticeably quiet in the canyon.
It’s very quiet at Sabino Canyon today - first day of no tram service. Hear from one Tucson resident who’s been coming here everyday for 20 years, and is heartbroken today. Coming up on @kgun9 at 5 pic.twitter.com/sbd4W7F0JL

George Lewy, who has been going to Sabino Canyon nearly everyday for the past 20 years, is emotional about the end of the service. He's become close friends with the shuttle drivers and misses them.
"We'll see what happens in the winter time. Because summer time, it's slow here, but today - look at this place. it's never been like this. Never. Even in the summer time. And I come here everyday."
Service temporarily ended on Saturday, June 30. People from all over the world have enjoyed the Sabino Canyon tram since 1986. The tram was able to take hikers and visitors deep into the canyon. Now, they'll have to decide if they want to walk.

Forest Service officials it could be as long as next summer before a quieter, electric-powered shuttle is up and running.
