Arizona's first no-kill shelter is finally getting an upgrade after 50 years of service.

The new Hermitage shelter will have a medical suite and veterinarians in-house.

On Saturday crews pulled down the patio to kick off the demolition which is scheduled for Monday.

The shelter currently has 140 cats which they say is a small number for them. They hope the new shelter will help them take in some of the overflow from the Pima Animal Care Center.
