TUCSON, Ariz. - A new playground at Reid Park will offer more accessibility for children who have a disability.
The playground will offer wider ramps and walkways for children in wheelchairs. It will also offer different playing equipment around the playground for children.
Sierra Boyer, with the City of Tucson's Parks and Rec Department told KGUN9 the renovated playground has been a longtime coming.
"It was important for the director at the time to design a playground for all ages and abilities including those kids with disabilities," said Boyer.
Among those kids, 12-year-old Cristian Guarista, who's mother, Beatris Guarista, said they are thrilled about the upcoming change to the park.
"As he got bigger and more heavier it's harder for me to transfer him or carry him up the stairs and to enjoy the park with the other kids," said Guarista.
