TUCSON, Ariz. — The Tucson skyline is getting a new addition.
The Pima County Board of Supervisors approved a property lease for Rio Nuevo at 75 East Broadway in downtown Tucson. The group plans to work with a developer to build a new office tower on the property.
Plans for the building include retail shops, restaurants and entertainment at ground-level as well as a 350-space parking garage. Above ground-level, the tower will house Class A offices, which the county says could help in wooing businesses to relocate and expand in Tucson.
Pima County says Rio Nuevo will purchase the property for $2.7 million after construction of the building is complete.
The county says once all site reviews and evaluations are completed, the developer -- J.E. Dunn -- is expected to begin construction within a year.
