UPDATE: Motorcyclist who died on Tucson's Southside struck a tree

UPDATE (10 a.m., June 28):

The driver of the motorcycle that crashed on West Valencia Road has been identified as 69-year-old William Joseph Kerin.

According to a news release from Tucson Police, Kerin was riding his Harley -Davidson westbound on Valencia when he struck a raised median.

After riding onto the median, the motorcycle struck a tree, according to the news release.

No other vehicles were involved.

Detectives are investigating to see if Kerin suffered a medical issue prior to the crash.

A motorcyclist was killed on West Valencia Road at just before 1 p.m. Thursday.

The motorcyclist was traveling between South Sixth Avenue and South Twelfth Avenue at the time.

The crash caused the closure of westbound Valencia.

The investigation is ongoing.
