It's Build day at Udall Park as more than 200 volunteers have gathered to build a brand new playground for the Eastside Park.

Parents say, the park was in bad condition and hasn't been updated for more than 20 years.

As KGUN9 showed you back in March - the park had exposed metal and missing playground parts. The only safe area was the swings and slides.

Volunteers from Phoenix and Tucson headed to Udall Park Wednesday morning and built the park in less than 6-hours. "It's awesome to know that the community is rallying to get this up and going - it's really well needed," says mother of three, Stephanie Balasz.

Parks and Rec department received a grant from KaBOOM! in March but it was the email from Balasz that began the journey. "It started from saying I feel like something is wrong here - this playground can be better and then boom here it is."

After the grant was received the kids were got the opportunity to design the playground they have dreamed about.

UnitedHealthcare funded the project with $100,000.
