TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - On the east side of Tucson, the restaurant business is booming.

A batch of new restaurants is under construction, along Broadway, and near Tanque Verde and Grant.

Near Broadway and Craycroft, in what used to be a church parking lot there is about to be a fast food explosion.  There's a Krispy Kreme going up, next to an El Pollo Loco and there's also going to be a company called Blaze Pizza, new to Tucson that will open in the 4th quarter of this year. It should have 40 jobs.  And all of that is really just sort of an appetizer for the growth of restaurants on the east side.

Near Grant and Tanque Verde, a new Chick Fil-A is coming in.  The franchise owner says he expects to hire 85 full and part time workers.  David Carrell says with Chick-Fil-A's in the west and midtown it was time for one on the east.

“We look for traffic count and just a good location so, on the corner is a prime location and then lots of cars is a good thing.

Carrell says anyone looking to work at the east side Chick-Fil-A should apply at the store at Tanque Verde and Grant.  A hiring office is in a building two doors east on Tanque Verde.

Nearby on Grant a new Sauce Pizza and Wine bar is going in.

Mayor Jonathan Rothschild hopes the new eating spots are a sign the economy's recovering.

"But as we see growth of restaurants we hope to see additional growth of retail and I think it says to us people are trying to get out more, have a little more expendable income.  Those are always good signs."

A lot of these companies have on-line ways to apply for their jobs.
