KGUN9's Carlos Herrera reports that tire tread is important to retain your car's grip on the road. Place a quarter into tread groove, and if you can see the top of George Washington's head over the tread, you need new tires.
You should also check your headlights, tail lights, brake lights and turn signals to see if they are working properly.
Perhaps most importantly, check your windshield wipers to see if they still work and have not been destroyed by the sun.
