The Mercado San Agustín Annex opens a couple businesses Friday.
Out of the 13 new stores and restaurants in the annex, seven of them opened.
These are the first businesses in Tucson to be made out of air-conditioned shipping containers.
"We thought you know this would be repurposed and not just tossed in the landfill," said Kira Dixon-Weinstein, the executive director.
The locally owned startups range from an ice cream store and burger joint to clothing boutiques and vintage furniture shops.
In the next couple months, the other six businesses will open.
