Menlo Park neighborhood tour

The first Menlo Park neighborhood took place today.

Eight houses including the oldest from 1905 and the newest one completed in January of this year opened along with eight neighborhood attractions. The attractions include the Gutierrez Bridge and El Senor de los Milagros Shrine.

One of the main attractions was the century-old home.

"It was built on a structure which I have a photograph of and I did some research," said homeowner Manny Gomez. "The adobe structure was built in 1797. Just recently, within the last three years I did some research and I was blown away by what history told me."

Many of the homes got much needed makeovers throughout the years.

"It's one of the older houses in the neighborhood," said Deb Dale about her home on the tour. "That was really important to us, to keep sort of that integrity and our aesthetic style is sort of a mix of new and old, so we've got antiques mixed with contemporary pieces so i think it works."

Tour officials say about 150 people attended the event today. The next tour in that neighborhood won't happen for about another two years.

All of the proceeds from ticket prices will go to the Menlo Park Neighborhood Association as well as the Mission Garden and the Intermountain Academy.
