According to AAA, more than 787,000 Arizonans are expected to travel over the coming three-day weekend. Most of them will be driving, and many will hit the road as early as this morning.
KGUN9's Carlos Herrera reports this will also be the third straight year of state and nationwide growth in Memorial Day travel. This despite gas prices being on the rise. The average price for a gallon of gas is $2.29 -- 13 cents higher than last year.
Drivers headed to California should keep in mind that the eastbound roadway has been reduced to a single, 10-foot lane at the port, about three miles east of the Colorado River.
