TUCSON, Ariz. — A man has been taken into custody after assaulting a federal officer at Casino of the Sun in Tucson October 3, the FBI said Tuesday.

Authorities say 50-year-old Richard Guy Wasson Jr. has been charged in a criminal complaint, which was filed in federal court.

According to an interim complaint, on Sunday, a Pascua Yaqui police officer responded to the Casino of the Sun after employees reported that Wasson had counterfeit money.

The officer came in contact with Wasson and asked for his identification. Wasson refused to provide any I.D. and began to fight with the officer when the officer tried to detain him. During the process, Wasson hit the officer. Wasson then pulled a pistol from his waistband, and the officer pulled out his weapon and fired two rounds at Wasson.

Wasson was not hit and was then taken into custody.

The injuries of the federal officer are unknown.

A booking photo was not released by the FBI.
