TUCSON, Ariz. - A man who was under the influence of alcohol while hitting and killing a bicyclist more than two years ago was sentenced to eight years in prison.
Authorities say Eric Corral struck and killed bicyclist Scott Koch in August 2016.
Authorities say Corral ran a red light in the intersection of Nexus and Valencia near Rita Ranch in August 2016. He fatally struck bicyclist Scott Koch, who had entered a crosswalk and with a walk signal showing.
In addition to the prison sentence, Corral received 13 years of probation.
Tucson police stopped Corral about 10 miles away and he had an open beer bottle in his car.
Prosecutors say Corral's blood-alcohol level was 0.313 percent almost two hours after the fatal collision.
In October, Corral was convicted of negligent homicide, DUI and leaving the scene after causing an accident resulting in death.
