A man is dead following a house fire on the west side Sunday night, Tucson Fire Department says.
The fire started at 11:53 near 36th and La Cholla, at the residential intersection of Merlin and Castle.
Tucson Fire Department Assistant Chief Joe Gulotta tells KGUN9 heavy flames were coming out of the back of the home, but a live electrical line and iron windows and doors made the fire especially hard to tackle.
Asst. Chief Gulotta says they found an injured man in the home, who, after life-saving measures on the scene, was pronounced dead at St. Mary's hospital.
It took 25 minutes to gain control of the flames, said Asst. Chief Gulotta.
There is no additional information on the victim or cause of the fire time of publication.
