Man convicted of assaulting corrections officer

TUCSON, Ariz. - A man was convicted of assaulting a corrections officer in Pima County Jail in September 2018.

According to the Pima County Attorney's Office, Noriega was in the jail dayroom without permission. When an officer told him to return to his cell, Noriega punched him in the face repeatedly. The officer suffered a broken nose and needed stitches.

Noriega was convicted of aggravated assault on an officer, causing temporary but substantial disfigurement.
