A man was convicted Monday of first-degree murder in a 2016 incident on the westside.
According to the Pima County Attorney's Office, Steve Anaya shot and killed Alan Galvez once in the head and twice in the back after a drug deal gone wrong.
Galvez and his cousin had attempted to sell heroin to Anaya. His cousin escaped, and Anaya dumped Galvez's body in the desert and stole and pawned his gold necklace. He was arrested two weeks after the murder, and still had the weapon.
In addition to murder, Anaya was convicted of attempted first degree murder, aggravated assault and possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited possessor.
He will be sentenced July 9.
