Man arrested on suspicion of food tampering at Target store

Posted

Authorities say a man has been arrested and accused of food tampering after he allegedly poured liquids into a freezer case at a Target store in Phoenix.

Police said 48-year-old David Clare Lohr Jr. was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of adding a harmful substance to food and that police believed he was involved in potential tampering incidents at six other Target stores in metro Phoenix.

The Fire Department said the store where Lohr was arrested was evacuated after witnesses reported an odor and that employees reported that a person apparently had poured vinegar and hydrogen peroxide together.

Fire Capt. Rob McDade said hazardous materials personnel responded and that the liquids apparently weren't toxic.

No injuries were reported.

Court records don't list a defense attorney who could comment on the allegations.
