A man accused of hitting and killing two motorists in a hit-and-run July 15 was arrested and is now in Pima County Jail.

The U.S Marshals Violent Offender Task Force began assisting with the investigation. Members of the force found out that Yacks was possibly staying in Mexico and began working with Mexican authorities.

On Oct. 18, Mexican authorities found Yacks and took him into custody. He was brought to the border and turned over to U.S Customs and Border Protection officers, who turned him over to Pima County.

Police say Sean Michael Yacks, 30, was involved in an accident that resulted in the deaths of 24-year-old Meghan Clevenger and 20-year-old Angel Vega.

Detectives have determined that a gold 2002 Honda Accord was traveling west on Speedway, toward Wilmot. As the Honda entered the intersection on a green light, it was hit by a black 2018 Nissan Sentra that had run a red light going north on Wilmot. Detectives say Yacks, who drove the Nissan, ran away.

Yacks is being held without bond.
