A local veteran got a special surprise ahead of Veterans Day.
Gerardo Ruiz spent 10 years in the military, but he has had trouble transitioning to a normal life.
His family struggles with everybody's schedule because they only have one car.
Often, he, his wife, and their three kids have to wake up at 3 a.m. to get everyone to work, school, and day care.
Ruiz said it has been difficult for the kids and their moods have changed because of it.
