Local schools receive National Certification from Magnet Schools of America

TUCSON, Ariz. — Two Tucson schools have been honored with the National Certification by the Magnet Schools of America (MSA).

According to the Tucson Unified School District, Carrillo K-5 Magnet School and Tucson High Magnet School received the honors based on the five pillars of standards and excellence.

"Carrillo K-5 Magnet School and Tucson High Magnet School provide high-quality education for all students and encourage innovative curricula and diversity in the classroom. Students deserve access to an excellent education that will prepare them for a bright future," TUSD said.

MSA's certification process is designed to recognize the exemplary magnet schools in the nation.

Tucson High principal Shawna Rodriguez spoke about the school being recognized.

"We owe this recognition to our outstanding teachers, students, and of course the hard work from our dedicated Magnet Team who engaged in this arduous process. This recognition is a true testament that THMS a great place to be where you can learn, thrive, and shine in anything you want to do!" Rodriguez said.
