PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix police have arrested a man who tried to sexually assault a woman in her sleep.
Police Sgt. Tommy Thompson says the incident happened around 4:30 a.m. Monday when the suspect entered two homes through unlocked doors.
He was confronted by the armed male homeowner in the first and fled.
Investigators say the 32-year-old suspect then attempted to sexually assault a woman while she slept in the second home.
She woke up and fought him.
Thompson says the suspect ran off when she called out to her adult son.
Responding officers caught him as he tried to climb onto the roof of a third home.
Police initially thought the suspect had entered the woman's home first.
His name has not been released.
