TUCSON, Ariz. — KGUN 9 and the Scripps Howard Foundation gave the Boys and Girls Club of Tucson $10,000 Thursday, along with 1,500 books.
The books were purchased with funds donated by our KGUN 9 viewers last fall during our "If You Give a Child a Book" campaign.
Good Morning Tucson's Mark Charter and April Madison dropped off the goods to celebrate National Reading Day.
Studies show children who grow up with books in the home enjoy a substantial advantage in literacy skills over children who do not, and children who are read to frequently do better in school.
