TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - The ever so popular hoverboard has been banned at all University of Arizona campus housing, according to the Arizona Daily Wildcat.

The move comes amid growing concerns that the two-wheeled balance boards are a safety and fire hazard.

The Daily Wildcat reports students received emails about the ban over winter break.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission is investigating more than three dozen instances of hoverboards smoking or bursting into flames.

Recently, all airlines banned hoverboards.
