Tucson Police have identified Maria Escobedo, 52, as the woman found dead in a south side homicide.

On October 1, 2017, officers responded for a welfare check in the 5500 block of S. Tyndall Ave.

Before police arrived, a family member entered the home and found their loved one deceased, according to Sgt. Kimberly Bay. Officers confirmed a woman was deceased inside the home.

Detectives responded and discovered Escobedo did not live at home, but two men did live there.

One man spoke with detectives, the other man was not present and believed to be in a relationship with Escobedo, said Bay. Detectives are actively working to locate that person.

The investigation continues while investigators wait for autopsy results to determine the cause of death.

Anyone with information is urged to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
