PHOENIX, Ariz. -- The Arizona School Counselors Association is set to announce a new bill at the state capitol Thursday.
Their goal is to decrease the ratio of students to counselors in Arizona.
Right now, there are more than 900 students to every school counselor in the Grand Canyon State.
AzSCA Board chair Janine Menard said the recommended ratio is 250 students per counselor.
The goal of the proposed bill is to get Arizona much closer to the national average of 450 students per counselor.
Menard, along with state lawmakers Jennifer Pawlik and Sean Bowie will introduce the AZratio bill on Thursday at 8:00 a.m.
