September is Arizona Preparedness Month.

In a campaign organized by the Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs or DEMA, Governor Doug Ducey joined in on the effort to ask families to have a plan in place incase a disaster strikes.

Governor Ducey and DEMA are encouraging Arizonans to have an out of town and evacuation route prepared along with food and water ready to last at least three days

Arizonans are also encouraged to have a communication plan if there's ever a statewide emergency.

"On top of that, have a plan with your family that is something does happen, how are you going to communicate? Where are we going to meet? In today's world, again, everything is reliant upon cell phones, if the phone lines go down because the tower issues then it's better to text than to call," said TFD Battalion Chief, Barrett Baker.
