Pima Animal Care Center is offering free microchip services for pets now through July 3.
The service will be available every day from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at 4000 N. Silverbell Rd. in PACC's community room next to the main parking lot.
Every year many pets get frightened by Fourth of July fireworks and some get lost or run away. Having your pet microchipped can be a way to help locate the animal in the event this occurs.
If you do lose your pet, you can call the PACC Pet Support Center at (520)724-7222.
Here are some tips to reduce the risk of pets getting lost during the week of Fourth of July:
- Keep your pets inside during fireworks
- Make sure your pet wears proper, up-to-date identification
- Give your pet calming and distracting items (i.e. classical music, a ThunderShirt, or enrichment toys)
- Get your pet microchipped ahead of time and keep contact info updated
