Former coach gets jail time, probation in teen sexting case

TUCSON, Ariz. - A former Cienega High School assistant basketball coach who was accused of sexual conduct with a student was sentenced to jail time and probation Monday as part of a plea deal.

Seneca Turner was arrested Feb. 14, 2018. He pleaded guilty to attempted sexual conduct with a minor by one in a position of trust. The school sent parents a letter Feb. 15 saying he was being fired.

Turner was sentenced to 12 consecutive weekends in jail and 10 years of probation.

According to the Pima County Sheriff's Department, Turner had allegedly been sending explicit messages to a 17-year-old girl who is a student at the school.

Turner was also a member of the school's security staff.
