UPDATE: Molino Fire on Mt. Lemmon now down to 400 acres

UPDATE, 3 p.m. Monday: Officials with the Forest Service now say the fire is 400 acres in size, and 25 percent contained.

UPDATE, 7:30 a.m., Monday: The fire has grown to more than 500 acres, and was caused by a man firing at an unofficial shooting range.

UPDATE, 10:00 p.m., Sunday: The Molino fire has grown to approx. 318 acres, reports the National Forest Service.

UPDATE, 8:50 p.m.: The Molino fire has now grown to about 200 acres.

ORIGINAL STORY: Rural Metro Fire responded to a fire on Mount Lemmon just below the Molino Basin Sunday.

Rural Metro says they are at milepost 4 working the brush fire.

Mount Lemmon deputies have shut down Molino campground and Mt. Lemmon highway is closed at the base.

The fire is estimated at 100 acres. No structures have been threatened.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
