PHOENIX - A former Tempe Municipal Court judge who was convicted of aggravated assault in the 2017 stabbing of his wife has been disbarred.

The disbarment order for Thomas J. Robinson was made two weeks ago after he declined to dispute an attorney-discipline complaint against him and instead agreed to the disbarment.

Robinson served as a municipal judge from 2009 until his retirement in September 2017
Last summer, Robinson received a four-month jail sentence for his guilty plea to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Authorities say Robinson stabbed his wife multiple times in the chest, back, arm and face. She survived.
