Earth Day can be every day if you're willing to put some simple practices into action.
Here are some tips:
Spruce up the kitchen and bathroom with glaze -- Glazes such as Perma Glaze on countertops, bathroom fixtures, bathtubs, showers, and appliances. This prevents the need to dispose of fixtures. Visit this site for more details.
Donate rather than throw away -- Giving unwanted items to nonprofits such as Goodwill or Salvation Army reduce the impact on landfills. For more information, contact Judith B. Simmons at Goodwill Industries of Southern Arizona at 623-5174 Ext. 1157.
Buy recycled paint -- Products such as Eco Paint use repurposed material. For more information on getting some, visit gersonsbuildingmaterials.com You can check tucsonaz.gov/es/calendar for dates, times and collection points to drop off your old paint, pesticides and chemicals.
Drop off old electronics to be recycled -- Suburban Miners offers a program that lets you get rid of unwanted electronics. The company refurbishes and resells them. Drop them off at 3611 S. Palo Verde Suite 101.
