TUCSON, Ariz. — Students at Gale Elementary School will fly over Tucson in homage to the Wright brothers' first flight.
The event, Fly Day, is organized by Wright Flight.
In order to fly a plane, students had to raise their grades and pass an aviation history test.
Students as young as 11 pair with experienced pilots for their flight.
The flight will take place December 18 from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. at Tucson International Airport.
Wright Flight's Fly Day program is in over 30 local schools and more than one thousand students are enrolled this school year.
It aims to motivate students educationally and personally, according to the program's mission statement.
